Rural Arizona residents evacuate due to large house fire

Residents near the building were told to evacuate immediately as crews worked to contain the blaze.

PINETOP-LAKESIDE, Ariz. — Residents of a rural Arizona community were told to evacuate their homes as fire crews battled a large structure fire.

The fire was reported Thursday morning near Hansen and Sunset lanes in Lakeside. Navajo County Emergency Management put out an evacuation notice soon after.

Residents in the area were told to follow public safety instructions and leave the area immediately.

The Timer Mesa Fire and Medical District confirmed that they were on scene battling the fire, but had limited access and water supply. The department released photos of the scene:

Officials said that the immediate neighborhood had been evacuated, but didn’t expect further evacuations.
