Ahead of the Ram Mandir inauguration ceremony, All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi appealed to the young Muslim community and told them to protect mosques before they are “snatched away”.

Owaisi asked the youths to be on the lookout for the activities carried out by the BJP-led Centre and said that mosques in India should remain inhabited.

Addressing a gathering at a programme in Hyderabad’s Bhavani Nagar in Telangana, Owaisi said, “Young people, I am telling you, we have lost our Masjid and you are seeing what is being done there. Don’t you have pain in your hearts?”

Referring to Babri Masjid, Owaisi said that the place where followers recited holy Quran for the past 500 year is not in their hands anymore.

“The place where we sat and recited the Quran for 500 years is not in our hands today. Young people, don’t you see the conspiracy is taking place regarding three-four more mosques, in which the Sunheri Masjid (Golden Mosque) of Delhi is also included?” he asked.

Owaisi that they have attained their position today after years of hard work, adding that, people have to pay attention to these things, to whatever is happening.

“Young Muslims need to stay alert and united,” the AIMIM chief said.

He asked the youths to maintain their support and strength, adding that they should always keep their mosques populated. “It may happen that these Masjids are taken away from us. I hope the young man of today who will be the old man of tomorrow will keep his eye ahead and think hard about how he can help himself, his family, his city, and his neighbourhood. Unity is strength, unity is a blessing,” Owaisi added.

The consecration ceremony in Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir will begin on January 16 and conclude on January 22. On the final day, following the morning puja, Lord Rama’s idol will be consecrated in the afternoon during ‘Mrigashira Nakshatra’.

Just a few days ago, Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed to the people to light special ‘diyas’ in their homes on January 22 to celebrate the day of ‘pran pratishtha’ at the Ram temple as ‘Diwali’.

Over a lakh devotees are expected to descend on Ayodhya for the consecration ceremony which is likely to see over 7,000 guests from India and abroad in attendance.
