ORLANDO, Fla. – People should avoid swimming, fishing or boating on Orlando’s Bay Lake because of a sewer issue, the city said Tuesday.
The city issued a Lake Alert for Bay Lake, which is located off John Young Parkway between Lake Orlando Parkway and Shader Road in the northwestern part of the city. This is a different lake from the Bay Lake located on Walt Disney World property.

Officials said 205 gallons of sewage were released into the lake because of a blockage in a sewer line running from a private property along Seneca Club Loop to the public sewer system.
People in the area are being urged to avoid swimming, fishing or boating until further notice. If you live along the lake, you’re also urged to avoid irrigation as well.
The city will start collecting water samples to test for E. coli, and once E. coli counts meet state water quality standards, the warning will be removed.
