Al Huroof International Arabic Calligraphy Contest Sets an Arabian World Record
Dubai – The International Arabic Calligraphy Contest achieved a remarkable milestone by setting an Arabian World Record. More than 100 children participated in crafting the names and attributes of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in a unique event organized under the patronage of the Sheikh Zayed Global Forum for Peace.

The contest was a collaborative effort between Rewaq Ousha Bint Hussain Assaqafi, the “Thanks for Your Giving” team, and Mass Media, as part of the celebrations for World Arabic Language Day 2024. This celebration coincided with UNESCO’s 50th anniversary of declaring Arabic as one of the six official languages of the United Nations on December 21.

Award Ceremony
The award ceremony took place at Rewaq Ousha Bint Hussain Cultural Center in Dubai, where the team behind “Al-Huroof” received the Arabian World Record Award from renowned Emirati artist Abdullah Al Jafali. The event was graced by esteemed panel members including Muneer bin Muhyidheen, Anas Ramzan, Ahmed Vayalil, Shakeer Puthukkudyil, Mubashir nelliyulathil, and Shamas T. P

Representatives from Rewaq Cultural Center, Ibthihal, Mr. Ajmal, Dr. Amina, Noufal Wafy, and Suhail Wafy also contributed significantly to the event’s success.

Additionally, Mohammed Abdul Rasheed, a reporter for Al Bayan daily, and Mathrubhumi TV Reporter Suresh vellimuttam was honored with the “Al-Huroof Media Award” for his outstanding coverage of cultural events.

Special Recognition for Jesfer Pulikkathodi Artist Jesfer Pulikkathodi, a person of remarkable determination, was awarded a special recognition for his exceptional talent in Arabic calligraphy. Despite being unable to move any part of his body except for his mouth, Jesfer delivered stunning artworks that showcased extraordinary creativity and resilience, inspiring everyone in attendance.

Remarks from the Organizers
Speaking at the event, Muneer bin Muhyidheen, the chief organizer, stated: “The event held at Rewaq Ousha Bint Hussain Assaqafi under the visionary leadership of Dr. Moaza Obaid Ghanim Ghubash Al-Muhairi, was truly memorable. I am extremely happy with the success of this event.”

The organizers emphasized that the event aimed to highlight the importance of the Arabic language, celebrate its artistic and cultural beauty, and reinforce its role as a cornerstone of Arab and Islamic identity. They further expressed their hope that such efforts would inspire younger generations to explore their creativity through Arabic calligraphy.
