Salik is Dubai’s electronic road toll system. It helps manage traffic and reduce congestion. But frequent Salik charges can add up quickly. Salik is an automatic toll system operated by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai. Each time a vehicle passes through a Salik gate, a fee of AED 4 to AED 6 is deducted. As of July 2025, there are 8 active Salik toll gates across Dubai.

Peak hours (6–10 AM, 4–8 PM weekdays): AED 6 per crossing. Off‑peak (10 AM–4 PM, 8 PM–1 AM): AED 4. Late‑night (1–6 AM) is free. Sundays follow off‑peak rates all day.
No, there isn’t a cap on Salik. The cap of AED 24 was removed in 2013. So, you will be charged no matter how many times you cross toll gates.
Toll-free hours are 1 AM–6 AM daily. Gates like the Al Maktoum Bridge also offer free crossings on Fridays and public holidays .
You’ll receive a fine: AED 50 per day for insufficient balance, and AED 100–200 for unregistered or missing tags.
