Free parking and toll charges in the UAE on the occasion of Prophet Muhammad's birthday. Good news as the town prepares for a 3-day long weekend.

On the occasion of the upcoming birthday of Prophet Muhammad, most Emirates have announced free parking and toll charges. Citizens can enjoy and be a part of this auspicious holiday without having to worry about parking or transportation. Here are more details:

The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) of the Department of Municipalities and Transport in Abu Dhabi has announced a series of benefits for residents and commuters in honour of the upcoming public holiday on September 29. The ITC aims to facilitate travel and enhance convenience during this time.

Free Surface Parking: Commencing from Friday and extending until 7:59 a.m. on Saturday, surface parking across Abu Dhabi will be completely free of charge during the holiday period. Additionally, those utilizing the Musaffah M-18 truck parking lot can avail themselves of free parking throughout the official holiday. It is important to note that parking in residential spaces is discouraged from 9 p.m. to 8 a.m.

Complimentary Darb Toll Gate Access: In another gesture of goodwill, the ITC has declared that the Darb toll gate system will operate without charges on Friday. Regular tollgate charges will resume on Saturday during peak hours, specifically from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Uninterrupted Public Bus Services: For those who rely on public transportation, there is excellent news. Public bus services in Abu Dhabi will continue to operate according to their usual schedules during the weekend and the official holiday. This ensures that residents and visitors can travel effortlessly throughout the city during the festive period.

The Sharjah Municipal Authority has also announced that there will be no charges for public parking during the upcoming holiday. According to authorities, residents in Sharjah will not have to pay parking fees on September 28, 2023. Free parking will be applicable only on Thursday and Friday, with charges being reinstated for the subsequent two holiday days. However, the seven-day paid parking zones, identifiable by the blue parking information signs, will continue to be enforced during the holiday and weekend period.

There is no official announcement yet, but there are reports of RTA planning to announce free parking on the holiday. In the past, government bodies have announced free parking in Dubai on important public holidays, and we can hope for the same this year as well. This includes other Emirates in the UAE as well.
