The pastor allegedly received reports of alleged misconduct involving a member of the church.
TUCSON, Ariz. — Tucson police have arrested an 82-year-old pastor for allegedly not reporting allegations of sexual abuse involving one of his congregants.
Earlier this year, police arrested 57-year-old Jose Mora after he apparently admitted to the Arizona Daily Star to inappropriately touching a boy from his church several years ago.
Tucson police said the agency’s investigation identified multiple alleged incidents of inappropriate contact between Mora and young boys from the church’s congregation.
On Monday, police said the agency has additionally arrested pastor Isaac Noriega for allegedly failing to report to law enforcement after he had received multiple reports from congregation members about Mora’s alleged conduct.
Arizona law requires clergy members to report suspicions of child abuse.
Tucson police said Noriega is facing two counts of failing to neglect of a minor. The agency’s investigation into the case remains ongoing.
