‘Start early and reach safely’ is the call given by Deputy Commissioner of Police (South Zone) Sneha Mehra at a meeting with community elders, Ganesh Utsav organisers and leaders of Bhagyanagar Utsav Samithi at Chatrinaka Police Station.

The officer appealed to the organisers to reinstate the earlier practice of starting processions early in the morning and completing them by evening, so that devotees can return home early and safely. She said that extensive security measures are being taken across the city, even as she sought the cooperation of organisers and the public.

The meeting was attended by Additional DCP South Zone M.D. Majid, Chatrinaka ACP C.H. Chandrasekhar, inspectors Prasad Varma, Gopal Rao, Satyam, Narasimha Naik and Chandrashekhar, along with Bhagyanagar Utsav Samithi leaders Mahender, Roop Raj and Uday, Gowlipura corporator A. Bhagyalaxmi Bhaskar, and other community representatives.

ACP Chatrinaka said the meeting concluded with an assurance that the Ganesh celebrations this year will set a trend by reinstating the previous practice of early processions and immersions.
