Carson Elmer Cottrill, Sr., 93, of Bridgeport, died Wednesday evening, June 25, 2025, at United Hospital Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born in West Union on October 22, 1931, a son of the late Lloyd and Tempest Cottrill.


 


Carson is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Elsie Cottrill.


 


 


Carson was preceded in death by his son Carson, Jr. and his wife Sylvia; his son-in-law, Billy Shingleton; and many brothers and sisters.


He served in the US Army for two years. Carson drove a coal truck for 21 years before working for the City of Bridgeport where he retired as a foreman in the public works department after 21 years of service.


 


His hobbies included repairing small engines with family. He was a member of the House of Faith in Hepzibah for many years. Carson loved spending time with his family and pets. He was loved and will be missed by all who knew him.

Family and friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Ave. Bridgeport from 2 to 6 pm Sunday, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 30, 2025, with Reverend Tom Horne presiding. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
