Union Minister of Communications and DoNER Jyotiraditya Scindia said “no one is happy in the Congress” as he called out the Grand Old Party for attacking Shashi Tharoor who was part of the multi-party delegation that travelled to the United States to present India’s view on the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor.

In an exclusive interview with CNN-News18, Scindia said: “I don’t think anyone is happy in Congress. I don’t think people of India are happy with Congress. I think only certain leaders of Congress are happy with themselves. That is the conundrum that Congress faces today. I rest my case.”

The Union minister also took umbrage at Rahul Gandhi, without naming him, for criticising India on foreign soil. “Which patriot will go outside this country and bring the country down? When a government that has taken retribution against cross-border terrorism and taken such strong action under Operation Sindoor…” Scindia asked CNN-News18.

He also slammed the Congress for questioning the strategy of the government and raising the claims of US President Donald Trump regarding the ceasefire with Pakistan.

“The Congress is only committed to a single thought—that is how it will enable itself to grab power. If that is its goal, the means it seems is criticism. Even if it is criticising the country. Earlier you (Congress) said Balakot and surgical strike never happened. You asked for evidence. When it happens now, you accept it for once. But you question now that why did the attack (Pahalgam) take place,” Scindia said, attacking the Congress.

“Vichitra sthiti hai Congress party ki. Desh ko niche dikhane ke liye koi mauka chodha nahi jaata. PM has said ki goli wahan se chalegi, toh yahan se gola chalega. (It is a strange situation inside the Congress. They don’t leave any chance to show the country down. The PM had clearly said that a bullet from that side will be replied with a bomb). We stopped only when Pakistan came begging for peace,” Scindia said, setting the record straight on Operation Sindoor and the government’s approach.

‘Shocked by Kharge’s Statement’

Scindia told CNN-News18 that he was left shocked by the recent statement of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge that the “high command” would decide the Congress chief ministerial face in Karnataka.

“I was really shocked that the Congress president said the decision of leadership change will be taken by the high command. Who is the high command who is higher than the Congress president? People of India want an answer to that,” Scindia said.

The BJP has been observing ‘Samvidhan Hatya Divas’ to mark 50 years of the Emergency, to which Congress has said a 50-year-old event is being unnecessarily raked up.

Responding to the criticism, the minister said: “When truth comes out, it hurts. When I was in the Congress, I spoke against the imposition of the Emergency. When I was in Congress, I spoke in favour of the abrogation of Article 370. Because, for me, it is nation first. Emergency is our darkest chapter in history. Uski jayanti nahi, uski barsi humne manayi hai (we did not observe anniversary of emergency, we observed its demise). No one should have the guts or think about imposing it again,” Scindia told CNN-News18.
