MongoDB has taken a significant step to bridge the gap in technical education across India by partnering with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). This collaboration aims to provide 500,000 students with advanced skills in cutting-edge technologies, including full-stack development and artificial intelligence (AI). As part of this initiative, MongoDB has launched virtual internships to equip students with the expertise needed to succeed in India’s rapidly evolving digital landscape.

With the rising demand for skilled developers in India, the collaboration comes at a crucial time. India’s technology sector is projected to require over one million engineers proficient in AI within the next three years, according to industry reports. To meet this challenge, MongoDB is working closely with AICTE to ensure that students across the country have access to relevant training programs. Through the partnership, students will learn to use MongoDB Atlas, the company’s flagship multi-cloud database platform, preparing them for roles in sectors increasingly driven by AI and data technologies.

At the core of the initiative is a virtual internship program facilitated by SmartInternz, a platform developed by SmartBridge, which provides students with real-world experience in simulated corporate environments. The internships, which last for 60 hours, include bootcamps, project-based learning, and mentorship. More than 150,000 students will be trained through this program alone, aligning with the Indian government’s broader Skill India Initiative.

The collaboration has also expanded to include platforms like GeeksforGeeks, which is helping make MongoDB’s Developer Learning Path available to its 25 million users. MongoDB’s foray into academia, which began in 2023, has already seen over 200 partnerships with educational institutions, training over 100,000 students, and logging over 450,000 hours of learning.
