Janet E. Martino, 81, of Richmond, VA, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2025.
Janet was also preceded in death by her infant daughter, Deanna Jo Martino.
She is survived by her beloved son, Steven Martino of Richmond, VA; and her cherished brother and sister-in-law, Stanley and Tressa Wolfe of Bridgeport, WV. Janet will also be lovingly remembered by five nieces, two nephews, many Wolfe cousins, and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
A proud 1961 graduate of RW High School in Nutter Fort, WV, Janet went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from Fairmont State College. She began her career teaching at WI High School before moving to Richmond, VA, with Don. Janet devoted many years to serving the Commonwealth of Virginia, beginning with the Virginia Employment Commission, later joining the Department of Labor and Industry, and retiring as Human Resources Manager at DOLI. She valued her work, forged lasting friendships, and took great pride in her contributions to the state.
Janet had a warm and hospitable spirit and maintained a wide circle of dear friends from VEC and DOLI, water aerobics, sorority sisters of 49 years with Sigma Phi Gamma International (Nu Sigma Chapter), and fellow little league baseball parents. She relished time spent with family and friends, and often expressed her love through the meals she prepared. Her signature dishes, pasta salads, and Christmas cookies will be fondly remembered by all who were lucky enough to share them.
Janet lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication to her family and friends. Her kindness, generosity, and joyful spirit will be deeply missed and forever treasured by those who knew her.
Family and friends were received at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home 329 E. Main Street Clarksburg, WV, on Monday, September 1, 2025 from 2p-8p. Funeral services were conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at 11am, visitation began at 10am that morning. Interment followed at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
