And almost double in size…
Wild Wadi Waterpark is currently closed for maintenance with no reopening date confirmed as yet. But could the waterpark be moving sooner than we think?
Back in 2017, with the breaking ground of the Marsa al Arab megaproject, it was announced by Dubai Holding that Wild Wadi Waterpark will be relocated closer to the beach, on the new entertainment-focused island.
According to the statement, the new location will grow the Wild Wadi’s size by more than twice of its existing size, “with new thrills, family rides, and record-breaking attractions.”
With the new and improved Wild Wadi, there will be a Marine Park – a first-of-its-kind marine life edutainment centre – where visitors will be able to interact with exotic aquatic animals and fish. Together the parks will sprawl over an area of two and a half million square feet.
And that’s not all, the new family destination will house a dedicated theatre that will become home to the world-renowned show Cirque du Soleil.
The five-star Marsa al Arab hotel is set to open later this year, completing the luxury Jumeirah hotel trilogy. The larger part of the development will also include a new luxury 82-berth marina and scenic boardwalk, as well as a cluster of nine, ocean-facing bedroom marina villas.
La Mer’s Laguna Waterpark also closed its doors in March this year, with a notice on its website stating, “Due to the redevelopment of the La Mer precinct, Laguna Waterpark will be closing permanently from Friday, March 24”. The beachfront is currently being demolished to make way for J1 Beach, which is set to open later this year.
Fear not, adrenaline junkies… Atlantis Aquaventure Waterpark is home to a whopping 105 rides where you can whip through tunnels, defy gravity on a raft, and dunk down into a plunge pool until the reopening of the cool new Wild Wadi Waterpark.
