According to Bridgeport Fire Department Deputy Chief Greg Pigg, the fire was on the backside of a residence located on Ridgeway Drive. The call came into the Harrison County 911 office at 6:45 p.m.
“The fire started on an enclosed patio porch,” said Pigg. “It was contained to the outer wall of the back of the house.”
When the Bridgeport Fire Department arrived, there was visible smoke. Pigg said the homeowner had tried to put out the fire with a hose. The deputy chief said when the wall was opened up, there were flames, but it was minimal.
Pigg said no one was injured. He believed there were just two individuals at the home at the time of the fire. Pigg also said the home was livable.
Clarksburg and Nutter Fort Fire Departments were on the scene. Shinnston and Spelter Fire Departments were called back, as was Anmoore EMS. The Bridgeport Police assisted on the scene as well.
