Buckeye police said the suspect is accused of stealing equipment from cell phone towers and selling the items online.
BUCKEYE, Ariz. — A Buckeye man has been arrested after police began investigating several thefts reported at cell phone towers throughout Arizona.
The Buckeye Police Department said 38-year-old Jeremiah Ramage is accused of stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of equipment and selling the items online.
On June 10, Buckeye police responded to a report of a theft at a cell phone tower off Sun Valley Parkway. Investigators later learned that 35 similar break-ins had been reported at cell towers throughout the Valley. The total loss from the thefts is estimated to be over $50,000, court records show.
Investigators examined an eBay account reportedly linked to Ramage that was confirmed to have sold over $30,000 worth of T-Mobile network equipment, public records show. A buyer who allegedly purchased routers from the suspect provided police serial numbers, which allegedly matched devices stolen from cell sites in the Phoenix area.
On July 17, police detained Ramage, a former contractor, during a traffic stop and allegedly located cell tower equipment in his truck. Police later searched Ramage’s home and allegedly found hundreds of items belonging to cell service providers.
The suspect is facing charges of burglary and theft.
