The motorhome culture will continue to exist in the electric vehicle world thanks to brands coming up with innovative compact and cost-effective designs. We are well aware of the modern-day electric rendition of the VW Bus called the ID. Buzz. A German-based company, RRE Global has introduced a compact camping accessory that will fit easily into the boot of the ID. Buzz converting it into a motorhome. Sounds interesting? We do too.
The Buzz is huge on the ID. microbus in North America as the continent awaits its launch in 2024. Volkswagen will be offering a long wheelbase three-row seating version of the electric MPV exclusively in North America. Ahead of the launch, the ID. Buzz has made several appearances on American soil at various events. However, the latest appearance seems to have caught the attention of motorhome lovers.
The European-spec ID. Buzz was recently showcased at the electric vehicle expo in Long Island, USA. Although it was showcased in a cool-looking dual-tone grey and blue colour scheme, that is not what attracted the visitors. What caught their attention was a camping accessory called the Ququq Busbox 4 from RRE Global that was strapped to the ID. Buzz.
The Ququq Busbox 4 measures 110 cm wide and 42 cm tall. This 62-kilogram box includes a thick cold-foam foldable mattress.
The foam mattress can be fully extended by folding the rear seat of the Buzz. The mattress is a three-part setup that uses a 10-inch foam and measures 1250mm in width X 1950mm in length.
The material used to construct the box is waterproof and uses a combination of phenolic resin-coated plywood, aluminium structure and steel hinges and handles. The campaign box is secured using straps in the boot of the ID. Buzz. The price of all this could be around AED 17,000.
The Ququq Busbox 4 is an accessory for the small European-spec ID. Buzz. The longer version of the electric bus features more space on the inside and allows for even bigger accessories.
Speaking a little bit about the ID. Buzz’s electric powertrain and features, the electric MPV features a range of 415km per charge. The EV is offered in single-motor RWD or dual-motor AWD configurations.
As of now, the ID. Buzz is yet to reach the Middle Eastern market. However, with the increasing demand for EVs, the Buzz might soon reach the desert, probably in its roomier LWB version.
