In a momentous display of diplomacy and innovation, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan presented UAE President Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed with a stunning gift that is poised to revolutionize the future of transportation in Turkey — the TOGG EV.
A symbol of Turkey’s commitment to sustainable technology and a gesture of goodwill, this remarkable electric car marks a significant milestone in the strengthening relationship between the two nations. After the handover ceremony, both presidents were also seen driving the TOGG electric SUV.
The TOGG EV (Türkiye’nin Otomobili Girişim Grubu EV), short for Turkey’s Automobile Joint Venture Group Electric Vehicle, is the country’s first domestically-produced electric car. Called the T10X, the electric SUV is designed by Pininfarina and boasts luxury and high-quality construction inside and out. The TOGG EV T10X embodies the fusion of modernity and sustainability, setting new standards for eco-friendly mobility.
The exterior of the TOGG EV T10X reminds you a bit of the Mercedes-Benz EQC, especially with the way headlights and grille have been integrated to give the car a smiling face. The rear follows the ongoing trend of using an LED lightbar giving it a modern and futuristic touch.
Like the exterior, the interiors of the TOGG T10X have been meticulously designed to excuse sustainability with a modern touch. The center of attraction on the inside is the large display panel on the dashboard. The large slab of glass is split into a 12-inch digital instrument cluster and a 29-inch touchscreen infotainment that covers the entire width of the dashboard.
From what we can see, the infotainment system comprises three sections split intelligently for the driver and the passenger. There is also another screen that is placed below the dashboard for other operations of the car including climate control. The floating center console with a rotary drive selector is a brilliant design element in itself. The console also houses a button for the electronic parking brake, regenerative braking control, and a touchpad.
The T10X model comes with two powertrain options: one with rear-wheel drive (RWD) featuring an electric motor on the rear axle, and the other with all-wheel drive (AWD) equipped with dual electric motors on both the front and rear axles.
In the RWD configuration, the electric motor delivers 160 kW (215 hp) and 350 Nm of torque, enabling the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.6 seconds. On the other hand, the AWD configuration with two electric motors provides a more powerful output of 320 kW (430 hp) and 700 Nm of torque, allowing the T10X to achieve 0 to 100 km/h in an impressive 4.8 seconds.
As for charging, the TOGG T10X SUV can be juiced up in three ways.
Charging times for a standard range battery with a 300 KM range
Charging times for a long-range battery with a 500 KM range
The TOGG EV T10X electric SUV is offered in three variants. Here are the variants and pricing as follows. (prices are converted from Turkish Lira to AED)
Pricing for the AWD model is yet to be announced by the brand. Also if you are looking to spice up the T10X with an optional panoramic sunroof or the Meridian audio system, you will have to shell out around 3500AED for each feature.
The exchange of the TOGG EV between Turkish President Erdogan and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed reflects a growing friendship and joint dedication to sustainability. The UAE’s adoption of this advanced electric car sends a strong global message about investing in eco-friendly technology and nurturing diplomatic ties focused on a greener future. The TOGG EV’s role in promoting a cleaner and brighter tomorrow indicates that Turkish-UAE relations will be driven by innovation and sustainability.
