The Porsche Carrera GT’s origins lie in Porsche’s motorsport ambitions, specifically a planned return to Le Mans with a V10 engine initially developed for a Formula 1 project. When Porsche shifted focus away from racing, the V10 engine found new life in a road car project, leading to the creation of the Carrera GT.
