Dubai is set to enhance its electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure with the installation of new EV charging stations in Dubai. Parkin Company PJSC (Parkin), the largest provider of paid public parking services in Dubai, has partnered with the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) to expand the city’s EV charging network.
As part of the initiative, DEWA will install new EV Green Chargers across prime parking locations in early 2025. These 22-kilowatt AC chargers will be strategically placed in high-density residential areas where EV charging options are currently limited. Each charging station will support two parking spaces and be available in Zones A and C check this ultimate guide on charging EVs in the UAE.
EV owners will benefit from a seamless payment process, as they can pay for both charging and parking through the Parkin app (iOS/Android) and digital wallet. This initiative aims to encourage greater EV adoption while improving the efficiency of public parking spaces in Dubai.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, stressed the importance of green mobility: “We continue to strengthen green mobility by encouraging the use of eco-friendly electric vehicles to reduce carbon emissions from the transport sector. This aligns with the Dubai Green Mobility Strategy 2030 and Dubai Social Agenda 33, which aim to make Dubai one of the world’s most liveable cities.”
DEWA is committed to expanding the EV charging stations network, supporting Dubai’s sustainability and climate goals. The EV Green Charger initiative, launched in 2014, currently provides 740 charging points across Dubai, with plans to reach 1,000 stations by the end of 2025, thus adding over 250 new charging stations this year.
Eng Mohamed Al Ali, CEO of Parkin, highlighted Parkin’s role in promoting EV adoption: “As the clear market leader in parking operations, management, and technology in Dubai, Parkin plays a critical role in enabling the transition to EV. Installing EV chargers in key locations will enhance our facilities, boost growth opportunities, and incentivise EV adoption.”
The expansion of EV charging stations aligns with the UAE’s sustainability goals, reinforcing Dubai’s reputation as a leader in green mobility and innovation. Here are EVs that are priced under AED 100,000 in the UAE.
Dubai already has a growing EV charging network under DEWA’s EV Green Charger initiative. Currently, there are 740 charging points across shopping malls, commercial hubs, residential communities, and public areas. The newly installed EV chargers will further enhance Dubai’s EV charging accessibility, making green mobility more convenient for residents and visitors.
