Xpeng Motors has officially unveiled its next-generation P7 electric sports sedan. Codenamed “E29” during development, the new model represents a significant leap for the brand in both design and technology. The launch positions Xpeng as a major player in the global race for AI-powered mobility.
The all-new Xpeng P7 has been completely redesigned with a clear shift toward sportiness and aerodynamics. Created by Rafik Ferrag, the Lead Exterior Designer at Xpeng, the model builds on the visual identity of the original P7 while introducing new features to boost performance.
Ferrag, who also led the design of the first P7 in 2018, shared the following: “The original P7 was a milestone for Xpeng and a turning point in China’s EV landscape. With this new generation, we set out to design a pure electric sports sedan that could amaze at every angle.”
The updated model features a fastback profile, flush-fitting door handles, frameless side mirrors, and a retractable rear spoiler. A full-width taillight with a revised lighting signature adds to the car’s futuristic look. The design blends aesthetics and function, aiming for improved aerodynamic efficiency.
While Xpeng has not officially revealed the interior, spy images suggest a spacious, tech-forward cabin. Features include a large central touchscreen, a three-spoke steering wheel with touch-sensitive controls, and a possible purple leather upholstery option.
The car is expected to run on Xpeng’s latest Xmart OS 2.0 system. This interface supports advanced voice control and may offer an augmented reality head-up display for enhanced driving awareness.
One of the most anticipated upgrades is the use of Xpeng’s next-generation Turing AI chip. The car could adopt a camera-only vision-based ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System), moving away from lidar-based systems used in older models.
Although powertrain details have not been confirmed, the new Xpeng P7 is expected to remain fully electric. It may debut the company’s new “Kunpeng” EV platform, which has the potential to support range-extended options in the future.
Industry analysts expect the new model to match or exceed the performance of the current Xpeng P7i, which offers up to 348kW of power in a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup and a CLTC range of up to 702km.
Xpeng CEO He Xiaopeng described the launch as a major shift: “We’re not just updating a car, we’re bringing the future forward.”
Since its debut in 2019, the original P7 has been a benchmark in Xpeng’s lineup. It was awarded Car of the Year in the 2021 Xuanyuan Awards and earned 5-star safety ratings in both C-NCAP and Euro NCAP tests.
With operations now spanning over 30 countries and regions, Xpeng is aiming to position the next-gen P7 as a flagship model on the global stage. It represents not only a product update but a broader strategy to lead in AI-integrated mobility.
Ferrag highlighted the team’s ambition: “This car is our dream—refined through countless iterations. The future isn’t conceptual anymore—we’ve built it.”
The new Xpeng P7 is expected to hit the market in the second half of 2025. Camouflaged prototypes have already been spotted during road tests, and a trademark application for the name “P7 Ultra” has been filed, possibly tied to this model.
More technical details, pricing, and market-specific features will be revealed closer to launch. At this point, it remains to be seen if and when the new P7 will be launched in the UAE.
More recently, Xpeng launched the Xpeng X9 in the UAE. It is a luxury MPV priced from AED 261,900. The X9 offers an impressive range of over 700 km per charge (CLTC standard) and comes packed with features such as electric seats, a panoramic sunroof, Level 2 advanced driver assistance system (ADAS), smart storage solutions, and more.
