Chinese performance and luxury EV brand, NIO partners with CYVN Holdings and enters the vibrant automotive market in the UAE with the launch of the EL8 SUV. The new family crossover electric SUV is priced starting at AED 359,900.

The new NIO EL8 is available in a single top-spec variant. Buyers can choose from five single—and dual-tone colour options and three interior colours.

The NIO EL8 retails at a starting price of AED 359,900. However, choosing all the available options such as an electric tow hook, exclusive exterior colour options, virtual assistant and more can take the price up to AED 392,300.

Bookings for the NIO EL8 have commenced on the brand’s official website with deliveries to begin by the end of this year.

Much like all NIO cars, the EL8 also features battery-swapping technology, which allows for the battery to be replaced in under three minutes. Powering the EL8 are two electric motors: the front features a 180 kW SiC permanent magnet motor, while the rear has a 300 kW induction motor.

The EL8 is equipped with a dual-chamber air suspension system, which automatically adjusts the vehicle’s ride height and damping control based on driving conditions. The SUV features multiple drive modes: Eco, Comfort, Sports, + Sports, Sand, Snow, Wet & Custom. 

The exterior design of the NIO EL8 combines elegance, technology, and aerodynamics, with distinct features that set it apart in the premium SUV market.

The interior design of the NIO EL8 is a blend of luxury, technology, and sustainability, creating a premium environment for both drivers and passengers. The EL8 emphasizes eco-friendly materials throughout the cabin. This includes the use of plant-based leathers, rattan, and soybean foam for seating. 

Designed as a six-seater, the EL8 provides ample space for passengers, making it family-friendly. The Premium Comfort Package comes standard and includes hot stone massage functions for both the first and second-row seats. The second- and third-row seats are also ventilated for added comfort.

Here are the tech highlights of the NIO EL8: 

NIO is offering a 3-year/100,000km warranty on the pick-up. While the battery pack and the electric motor come with an 8-year/200,000km warranty. 

The UAE automotive market is flooded with premium electric SUVs. The EL8 will have to take on the likes of the Tesla Model Y, BMW iX, Mercedes-Benz EQB, Audi e-tron, Ford Mustang Mach-E, Hyundai Ioniq 5 and the Kia EV9; among others. The NIO EL8’s feature-loaded and spacious cabin will stand out among its rivals. 

NIO is showcasing these models at the Mall of the Emirates (from October 17 to November 6) and Yas Mall (from October 17 to November 12), where users can experience and test drive the vehicles.

In addition to the EL8, NIO plans to introduce other models to the UAE market, including the EC6, a premium mid-size coupe SUV, and the ET5, a mid-size electric sedan.
