How do you celebrate 60 years of the 911 production run? You create a more mental version of the 911! As a part of the celebrations, Porsche has revealed a limited-edition model that pays homage to the iconic sports car and its ‘turned up to 11’ performance. Meet the Porsche 911 S/T that is inspired by the 911 GT3 Touring and 911 GT3 RS, bringing the best of both worlds to provide a unique combination of agility and driving dynamics.

The Porsche 911 S/T weighs just 1,380 kilograms making it the lightest model of the 992 generation. The lightness is paired with great performance, courtesy of the 4.0-litre boxer engine with a short-ratio manual transmission from the 911 GT3 RS.

The name 911 S/T is derived from the 1969 911 S, which was internally codenamed 911 ST. The original 911 ST introduced significant enhancements to the chassis, wheels, engine, and body, thereby improving overall performance. The new 911 S/T carries this legacy forward by blending elements of the 911 GT3 RS and 911 GT3 with Touring Package, incorporating specially developed lightweight components. Before we speak any further about the special-edition machine, let us briefly look at the illustrious history of the Porsche 911.

The Porsche 911 is an iconic sports car with a rich history that dates back to 1963. Designed by Ferdinand “Butzi” Porsche, the grandson of the company’s founder, the 911 quickly became a symbol of engineering excellence and performance. Its distinctive shape, characterized by a sloping rear and circular headlamps, has remained largely unchanged over the years, making it instantly recognizable.

Originally intended as a successor to the Porsche 356, the 911’s innovative rear-engine layout and superb handling quickly gained popularity among racing enthusiasts and everyday drivers alike. Over the decades, the Porsche 911 has evolved and improved through various generations, maintaining its reputation as a benchmark for sports car performance and it remains one of the most cherished and sought-after vehicles in automotive history.

Lightness is the name of the game for the 911 S/T. Key components like the front bonnet, roof, front wings, and doors are constructed from lightweight carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP), enhancing performance. Other parts, such as the roll cage, rear axle anti-roll bar, and shear panel also utilize CFRP. Lighter components on the 911 S/T make it 40kg lighter than the 911 GT3 Touring. Buyers can choose a number from 0 to 99 for the decal that will be applied to the doors.

The Porsche 911 S/T is offered in an attractive jet-black exterior colour scheme. Additionally, choosing the optional Heritage Design Package will offer an exclusive Shoreblue Metallic exterior colour with wheels finished in Ceramic white.

Inside the 911 S/T, the cabin offers a choice between carbon-fiber-reinforced-plastic bucket seats or four-way-adjustable Sports Seats Plus at no additional cost. Upholstery options include Classic Cognac cloth with black pinstripes or two-tone semi-aniline leather in a combination of Black and Classic Cognac. To add a distinctive touch, the instrument cluster and clock feature green highlights for a retro touch.

As mentioned earlier, the 911 S/T is powered by the iconic 4.0-litre flat-6 boxer engine paired with a six-speed manual gearbox.

Porsche has removed the rear-wheel steering offered on other models to keep the 911 S/T as light as possible. This way the 911 S/T will write a new chapter in redefining speed and power for the brand. On that note, here are 10 cars that rewrote the rule book of performance from the 1980s.

Porsche will only build 1,963 examples of the 911 S/T adding a touch of exclusivity and making it a collector’s item for years to come. Additionally, customers can also choose to buy a limited-edition Chronograph 1 – 911 S/T wristwatch.
