Lamborghini Lanzador Pure Electric Supercar Revealed At The Monterey Car Week

The moment the entire EV world was looking forward to is here. Lamborghini has unveiled the Lanzador, their first all-electric supercar at the 2023 Monterey Car Week. The Lanzador concept car introduces a high-ground-clearance GT with 2+2 seats. The concept car is part of the Italian super sports company’s “Direzione Cor Tauri” strategy and its roadmap towards a decarbonization and electrification future.

The all-electric concept car is a Gran Turismo with a surprising body style, entirely new proportions and unparalleled onboard experience via new infotainment features, and a pure design combining ultra high-performance elements of the Revuelto super sports car and the animated versatility of an Urus.

Lamborghini is tight-lipped on most of the details under the bonnet of the Lanzador. However, a few of the details have been revealed: 

The Lamborghini Lanzador is equipped with a host of electronics to help put down the power to the road. This includes:

The new LDVI system uses a lot more sensors for precise input and data to control the overall dynamics of the car. Helping the LDVI system is Labo’s ALA active aero that controls the movable air splitter at the front along with the air shutter, and an extending diffuser along with the sideways blade at the rear. The car will provide the least wind resistance and maximum downforce depending on the mode.

The Lanzador also features active suspension, all-wheel steering, and torque distribution with wheel speed control for precise movements around the bends.

The Lanzador draws its design inspiration from some of the greatest Lamborghini models: the Sesto Elemento, Murciélago, and Countach LPI 800-4. The front is unmistakably a Lambo with its sharply-raked nose and sleek-looking LED headlights.

From the side, the 23-inch wheels, Gandini arches, the long sloping roofline and beef-up shoulder line at the rear define the essence of a high-performance Lamborghini. Italians have done a fabulous job at hiding the tall-riding stance of the car with the all-around cladding seamlessly integrating with the body of the electric supercar.

The rear of the Lanzador features hexagonal-shaped taillights inspired by the plug-in hybrid Revuelto, and a large diffuser compensates for the missing large radical-looking exhaust that we usually find on a Lamborghini.

The “Ultra GT” car, as Lambo calls it, features a futuristic-looking cabin. The driver’s cockpit includes a flat-bottom steering wheel riddled with all the buttons to control the car’s dynamics. The driver and the co-passenger are separated by a Y-shaped dashboard design that houses two large screens for both. 

Keeping in tune with times, Lamborghini has used sustainable materials for the interiors of the Lanzador. High-end Merino wool adorns the dashboard, seats, and door panels. Coloured threads are crafted from regenerated nylon/recycled plastic. Non-visible plastics, like foam in sports seats, are created from 3D-printed recycled fibres. Even the carbon fibre used is regenerated carbon – a two-layer composite material.

Lamborghini plans to electrify its entire product range by the end of 2024. The company is investing over 1.9 billion euros in a four-year hybrid technology conversion. The Lanzador is the brand’s fourth model concept that will bridge the gap between the Urus and super sports cars. The all-electric four-door supercar is expected to launch in 2028 and will be manufactured in Sant’Agata Bolognese.
