The Lamborghini Huracan succeeded the amazing Gallardo and went on to become another raging bull for the history books. For this comparison, we are considering the genesis of both cars. The very first edition of these two supercars. For Lamborghini, it is the Huracan LP 610-4. And for Ferrari, it is the 488 GTB.

The Ferrari 488 is the larger car out of the two. However, if you notice the kerb weight of the car, the 488 is around 75kgs lighter than the Lamborghini Huracan. This is because the 488 uses more composite material in its construction and the engine weighs less than the one on the Huracan.

Also, the Huracan feature an AWD drivetrain as compared to the RWD on the 488, adding to the Lambo’s weight. 75kg might not seem much, but in the world of supercars, it is a huge difference, which we will look at later speaking about the power-to-weight ratio.

The Huracan staying true to its ethos of naturally aspirated engines, features a 5.2-litre V10 powertrain. On the other hand, Ferrari moved to a period-correct twin-turbo V8 engine that provides a lot more performance despite its lower capacity.

This is evident when you look at the power-to-weight ratios of Huracan and 488. The 488’s figure is far superior to that of the Huracan’s. However, when you take both supercars to their holy grail racetrack, the Nurburgring, the Huracan is sure to come on top because of its all-wheel-drive setup.

As mentioned earlier, both these supercars have been around for a while. They have spawned many performance and special edition models over the years. 

Starting with the Lamborghini, the Huracan is still in production and is currently in its sort of second-gen model called the Huracan EVO. Additionally, there are other hardcore performance versions of the Huracan called the Tecnica, STO and the Sterrato, which is an off-road version of the supercar. Yes, you read it right!
